Tenaris Transforms Operations with Engage by Cell’s Mobile Safety Check-In

INTRODUCTION
Tenaris, a global leader in pipes and industrial services, faced a pressing challenge — how to ensure on-site safety standards while managing a vast network of facilities and drivers. The organization is based in more than 30 countries worldwide, with thousands of truck drivers navigating 12 facilities in the United States alone. Tenaris was seeking an efficient way to ensure drivers acknowledged the on-site safety standards. By utilizing the Mobile Safety Check-In the organization created an efficient process.
THE CHALLENGES
Safety information and acknowledgements were managed through paper forms and email communication, which made the process timeconsuming and prone to errors. Security guards would send information to managers, who would sift through emails and wait for feedback from the staff after a safety related event occurred. Tenaris identified three critical needs in this process:
Increase EHS Protocol Adherence
Ensuring that visitors and drivers strictly adhere to Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) protocols was a top priority.
Mitigating Accidents and Liability
Reducing accidents not only safeguards personnel but also minimizes legal liabilities.
Digitizing Safety Information
Transitioning from manual paper-based processes to digital solutions was essential for streamlined operations.

THE IMPLEMENTATION
Gone are the days of paper forms and email confirmations. Tenaris embraced a digital metamorphosis by collaborating with Engage by Cell.
Here’s how the transformation unfolded:
1. Seamless Onboarding
Visitors and drivers arriving at Tenaris facilities are guided through a seamless journey. A quick scan of a QR code opens a safety video and an acknowledgment form.
2. Real-time Data
Each form submission translates into real-time data that security staff and management can access instantly. This eliminates delays and enhances decision-making.
3. Intelligent Approval Process
Post-submission, visitors are presented with an approval or denial screen. Correctly completed forms warrant entry, while discrepancies are swiftly addressed.
4. Saving Staff Time
Security personnel can effortlessly identify and rectify issues. For instance, if a driver lacks proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), the guard can provide the missing gear, promptly allowing entry to the site.
REMARKABLE RESULTS
The impact of this digitization has been nothing short of remarkable:
1. Increased EHS Compliance
With the Mobile Safety Check-In, adherence to EHS protocols skyrocketed, making safety a non-negotiable standard.
2. Better Safety Performance
Interviews with site workers and truck drivers indicated that they could see a change in the safety performance of drivers. Drivers were more likely to actually read the information because it was coming through on their own phone, right in their hand.
3. Efficiency Redefined
Previous processes could take up to 10 minutes per driver. Now, a driver can run through the items in 1-3 minutes increasing efficiency by 70%.
4. Seamless Visitor Experience
The user-friendly digital form streamlined visitor interactions, enhancing their overall experience.
5. Insightful Tracking
Real-time data offered unparalleled insights, enabling informed decision-making and performance tracking.
By embracing digital innovation, Tenaris has not only improved operations but also paved the way for a safer, more efficient future in the industry.
